At Wembley Stadium, Liam and Noel Gallagher dedicated Live Forever to the Black Sabbath icon in a heartfelt moment, showing their love and respect for the legendary musician.
Oasis paid an emotional tribute to Ozzy Osbourne at their first London show at Wembley Stadium as they dedicated Live Forever to the Black Sabbath icon. The rock legend died aged 76 on Tuesday as his family confirmed the sad news.
The band, led by Noel and Liam Gallagher, previously dedicated Live Forever to Liverpool’s Diogo Jota at their Cardiff shows when the tour kicked off.
The enormous screens on stage projected the song’s number 20 onto the Liverpool player’s shirt in the final moments, causing emotion and cheers and applause among the stadium’s observant fans.
Oasis has also paid tribute to Black Sabbath rocker Ozzy. During the venue’s opening performance, the band at Wembley dedicated Live Forever to him, which received cheers and applause from the audience.
Liam stated at the song’s conclusion, “That song was dedicated to Rock N Roll star Ozzy Osbourne.” Then he made a name for himself, Rock N Roll.
Ozzy’s family announced he had died in statement on Tuesday which shocked the music world, as it came just over two weeks after the Back To The Beginning show at Villa Park.
Our beloved Ozzy Osbourne has passed away this morning, according to the statement, “with more sadness than words can convey.” He was surrounded by love and his family. At this time, we ask that everyone respects our family’s privacy. Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis, among others.
The lyrics to the Oasis anthem Live Forever include the emotional lines, “You and I are gonna live forever, you’re the same as me, we see things they’ll never see.”
For the first time since July 12, 2009, Oasis have returned from their Dig Out Your Soul tour to Wembley Stadium. There will be five nights of them there.
During Oasis’ comeback shows so far, it has been difficult to compete for an important spot at the barriers.
Fans formed a line hours before the band was scheduled to play on stage at Wembley (FRI) and it was no different.
Five homecoming shows took place in Manchester’s Heaton Park before the sell-out tour kicked off with two nights in Cardiff. The band’s two-hour shows have received five-star ratings from the audience, making it known as the decade’s rock’n’roll reunion.
