Oasis are back after a 16 year hiatus – and so is their dominance of the charts. Just days after their long-awaited reunion kicked off in Cardiff, the band has returned to the top of the UK album chart with their greatest hits collection Time Flies, while (What’s the Story) Morning Glory? has climbed to number two.

If that wasn’t enough, their debut album Definitely Maybe also surged to number four, with only Sabrina Carpenter blocking an Oasis clean sweep of the top three. Fans aren’t just streaming albums as their iconic singles are soaring to the top of the charts. Acquiesce, once just a B-side, has landed at number 17 in the singles chart, followed closely by Don’t Look Back in Anger at 18 and Live Forever at 19.

The Britpop legends, who last performed together in 2009, reunited for their first show in 16 years last week. Now, Noel and Liam Gallagher are back on stage for five sold-out nights at Manchester’s Heaton Park, where 80,000 fans are expected each evening.

The tour will continue with multiple dates at London’s Wembley Stadium, as well as shows in Edinburgh, Dublin, and beyond as part of a global run.

While the onstage reunion has been widely praised, ticket sales were not without controversy. Fans reported chaotic queues and inflated prices during the initial sale, but the atmosphere around the shows has since eclipsed those frustrations.

In Manchester, excitement has reached fever pitch. Crowds began forming outside Heaton Park at dawn, armed with camping chairs and umbrellas to endure the 28-degree heat. The gates opened early, giving dedicated fans a head start on finding the perfect view – though the Gallagher brothers weren’t set to appear for another five hours.

The city itself has embraced the comeback as Liam’s voice played over the tram system, while Noel was spotted leaving Gary Neville’s Stock Exchange hotel, and pubs were packed with merch-clad fans.

Amid the heatwave, organizers set up a medical recovery area at the venue in case of dehydration.

Vernon Kay took to Instagram to warn fans to stay safe: “Here we go, Heaton Park – for those who refuse to hydrate themselves – come on! Fill yourselves up with liquid, people! Get some electrolytes in your body.

“We don’t want to see you on any of these mats – these are not yoga mats! This is not a sun lounger! These are where people recover… We don’t want to see a queue for the beds of doom.”
