NSCDC Intercepts 1,571 Litres Of Smuggled Petrol In Zamfara

1, 571 litres of petroleum products were being illegally transported in jerrycans to bandit-prone areas, according to the Zamfara State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC).
Addressing journalists on behalf of the , State Commandant, Sani Mustapha, the , Public Relations Officer of the command, Umar Muhammad, revealed that , four suspects , were arrested in connection with the crime at two separate locations.
Two tank attendants and two buyers were among those taken into custody in the state’s Birnin Magaji and Tsafe Local Government Areas.

The suspects also violated the Executive Order, which prohibits the sale of petroleum products in jerricans in Zamfara State, according to Muhammad, besides transporting fuel from unauthorised locations.

He claimed that two suspects were detained in Tsafe with 275 litres of the product while two were detained in Birnin Magaji with 1, 296 litres of fuel.
He stated, “Today, we bring before you four suspects apprehended for large-scale sales of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) in violation of the National and State Executive Order governing petroleum product sales to Jerrycans.”
