Grand Prix of Miami

Miami International Autodrome Location: 2 – 4 May Race start time: 2:00 BST on Sunday

Lando Norris beat McLaren team-mate Oscar Piastri to win a chaotic wet-dry Grand Prix of Miami sprint race with help from the safety car.

After passing pole-sitter Kimi Antonelli’s Mercedes at the opening corner of the race, Piastri took the lead from lap one, but the safety car prevented the Australian from claiming the victory.

As the track dried out, Piastri pitted one lap before Norris, but the safety car was dispatched while Norris was pitting for his slick tires.

That makes the cars move more slowly and allows Norris to regain control of the lead.

Aston Martin and Racing Bull collided at Turn Two, which caused the safety car, but there was more drama in the race than that.

Max Verstappen collided with Antonelli after finishing fourth on the road behind Lewis Hamilton’s Ferrari, but he was given a penalty of 10 seconds for an unsafe release following his pit stop.

Verstappen’s penalty placed him in the 17th place and last place.

The Italian suffered a significant blow as a result of the incident, which required him to rejoin the track and complete another lap before pitting once more. In the end, Antonelli placed 10th overall out of the points.
