After the state’s six-month emergency rule is over, the governor of the state, Siminalayi Fubara, has been ordered to step down as governor under the direction of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, according to the governor’s FCT minister, Nyesom Wike.
At the height of the political rift between Governor Siminalayi Fubara and his close-knit community, Nyesom Wike, the state’s immediate former governor, President Bola Tinubu declared a state of emergency in Rivers State.
President Bola Tinubu announced on Wednesday that Rivers State’s current state of emergency would end at midnight, citing state-reported state reports that indicated there was no need for it to continue.
After that, he instructed the House of Assembly members, their deputys, and Governor Fubara to resume their official duties.

Governor Fubara, however, made an appearance on Thursday at the Government House. After hours of waiting, a sizable crowd that had gathered to watch his arrival finally dispersed.
Wike responded to the development by stating that the governor was now required to resume work exactly as the emergency rule was in effect.
No law requires that he re-enter the workforce today, he said. I have no idea how things work because he is the governor. Okay, so being sworn in today as the governor does not imply that I will leave tomorrow.
