Nigeria’s Consul General In Cameroon Dies

Taofik Coker, the Republic of Cameroon’s consular general, has passed away.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs revealed in a statement that Ker passed away on August 16, 2025, after a brief illness.

He served in Nigeria’s Conakry, Guinea, and Shanghai, China before taking the position of Consul-General of Nigeria in Buea.

Coker was a hardworking and dedicated career diplomat who distinguished Nigeria with distinction, commitment, and professionalism in various capacities, according to the ministry’s spokesperson, Kimiebi Ebienfa, in a statement signed by his spokesperson.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announced with a heartfelt statement that Ambassador Taofik Obasanjo Coker, the Consul General of Nigeria in Buea, Republic of Cameroon, had passed away unexpectedly on August 16, 2025 after a brief illness.

A hardworking and devoted career diplomat who distinguished Nigeria with distinction, commitment, and professionalism in a variety of capacities, Ambassador Coker said. Therefore, the diplomatic community and the country as a whole are devastated by his sudden death.

He served Nigeria meritorily in our missions in Conakry, Guinea, and Shanghai, China, before taking his position as the Consul-General of Nigeria in Buea.
