As he made his way to the BBC studios on Saturday afternoon with crutches on, the DIY SOS presenter was spotted looking downcast. Later in the day, Nick posted a photo of himself tuning into the show on Twitter / X and saying, “Gutted not to be out there with everyone tonight on the @bbcstrictly dance floor, but still suited up and cheering them on from the sofa.”

As Movie Week kicked off on Saturday, the well-wishes were exploding quickly and well-wishes, with host Claudia Winkleman expressing her heartfelt condolences as she wished her a speedy recovery. A Charleston rendition of “Rain On The Roof” by Nick and partner Luba Mushtuk from Paddington 2 was scheduled to delight viewers.

In line with Strictly’s regulations, the duo “received a bye” to this week’s show. Speaking on the BBC’s companion programme Strictly: It Takes Two via a pre-recorded clip, Nick shared last week: “During our first dress rehearsal today, or run-through of the dance number on the stage, unfortunately I damaged my knee and it’s quite painful. Therefore, the physios have recommended that I get an MRI.

Luba continued, “We regret not dancing tomorrow, but we sincerely hope that the knee will heal over the coming week and we’ll be back on the dance floor.” Fingers crossed, we really hope that we’ll be back and see you guys very soon”. Even if we have to glitter up the crutches, Nick said, “I’m determined to get back and try to dance for you next week.”

Nick earlier this week stated his steadfastness to the soldier on and said he was “very hopeful” about playing on Saturday night at Strictly. He claimed that each day his leg is getting “a little better.” Nick said that “it’s not necessarily the end of it” if he could endure two days of practice during an appearance on It Takes Two.

He updated his Strictly followers with the following in a heartfelt Instagram post: “I have to see how I get on,” and a decision will be made on Friday. I just wanted to take this moment to express my gratitude for everyone’s encouraging wishes. And I’m hopeful that I will be dancing on Saturday”. The actor, who had just finished performing while changing a tyre, admitted he was “sick and tired” of the mishaps that had been plaguing him and was already powering through them.
