Following Sunday’s 3-1 defeat at Lorient, Nice have publicly condemned a group of fans in the “strongest possible terms.” Following players and staff being physically confronted on their way home, Nice have issued a statement.
As the team bus arrived at the club’s training facility, members of the forwards Terem Moffi, Jeremie Boga, and Florian Maurice, according to reports in France, were among the group of about 400 supporters who were targeted.
In incidents that lasted for 45 minutes, witnesses claimed, fans heckled players and staff, lit flares, and chanted hostile songs.
According to French media, Ivory Coast forward Boga has been on medical leave since the confrontation started on Monday.
The club is aware of the frustration caused by a string of subpar performances and performances that don’t align with its values, Nice said in a statement.
“The events that took place during this gathering are unacceptable, however. Several club members were targeted. OGC Nice lays out the strongest terms that it can and offers them its full support.

Fabrice Bocquet, the club’s president, was absent.
The incident came after Nice lost for the sixth time in a row in all competitions, placing the club 10th overall in Ligue 1 with 17 points from 14 games.
