After being unable to play against Everton despite two rejected bids from Newcastle, Wolves head coach Vitor Pereira says striker Jorgen Strand Larsen “will stay with us.”

The Magpies offered the 25-year-old both £55 million and £50 million, both of which Wolves rejected.

With Alexander Isak trying to arrange a move to Liverpool, the Swedish international is currently at odds with Newcastle and hasn’t played this season.

Strand Larsen watched as Wolves were defeated by Everton on Saturday with a 3-2 defeat, only to make his loan move from Celta Vigo permanent for £23 million this summer.

Sky Sports questioned Pereira about whether the Norwegian would remain at the club after the deadline of Monday. “I hope so,” Pereira said. He is a crucial player.

If he plays, his quality might be what we’ll need today. Our only option is to sell our best players.

He will stay with us, according to the information I have.

The Wolves do not want to sell the Norway international, primarily because the transfer window is closing on Monday and Strand Larsen is extremely valuable to their chances of survival in the Premier League.

Pereira claimed that his team “needs to bring more players, not sell players.”

After their original £110 million offer was rejected on August 1st, Liverpool are still waiting to make an improved second offer for Isak with two days until the transfer window closes.
