According to local officials, northwestern Pakistan has experienced at least 20 fatalities as a result of new monsoon rains, which have reportedly caused flooding in the area. This is unusually severe and deadly monsoon season.
More than 20 people were killed by a cloudburst in the Gadoon area of Swabi, according to a local official in the area’s Gadoon news agency on Monday. The most recent deaths brought on by flooding were also covered in local Pakistani media.
A second official confirmed the death toll in the worst-hit Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province by claiming that three to five villages had been completely destroyed by the torrent of rain that had fallen in a short amount of time.
The new deluge comes as rescuers search for 150 more missing people in various provincial districts.
