After one of the local airline’s aircraft burst during an attering at the Malam Aminu Kano International Airport (MAKIA) on Tuesday night, the Nigerian Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA) began the safety audit of the commercial airline Max Air.
The investigation began shortly after the incident, which took place on Tuesday at 10:57 pm, when Flight VM1605, which had earlier left from Lagos’ Murtala Muhammed Airport (MMA), touched down in Kano.
All passengers onboard the plane were unharmed when a tyre burst caused panic in the aircraft, which caused minor injuries.
The incident occurred as a result of a rumor that the aircraft may have lost the tyre for the nose landing gear.
One of the passengers, Abdullahi Ibrahim, described the moment onboard as tense. He said, “As soon as we landed, there was a loud sound, and the plane shook violently. The crew assured us that everything was under control as some passengers began to pray. Simply put, we’re appreciative of being safe.
At the time of writing this report, attempts to reach Max Air officials for an official statement had failed. However, aviation experts have assured the public that such incidents, while concerning, are not uncommon in the industry.
