Naira Abuse: Court Orders Remand Of Hip-Hop Artiste ‘Terry Apala’

The remandation of hip-hop artist Terry Alexander Ejeh, also known as Terry Apala, has been ordered by a federal court in Lagos on Friday for a naira abuse charge.

His bail application would be heard and determined until May 5, 2025, according to Justice Akintayo Aluko’s order to keep him in the Ikoyi Correctional Centre in Lagos.

Ejeh was arraigned by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission on a one-count count of abuse of the naira while dancing at a social event in Lagos Island’s Madison Place.

Sulaimon Sulaiman, the EFCC’s attorney, then requested that the defendant’s plea be entered before the charge could be read.

However, the defendant entered a not-guilty plea, which led to Sulaimon’s request for a trial date and the defendant’s resumption of custody.

Felix Nwakbudu, the defendant’s attorney, informed the court of a pending bail application his client had submitted.

Nwakbudu claimed the prosecution had received a copy of the bail summons this morning and that he had asked the judge to move the application.

The prosecutor objected to the bail application hearing because he would need time to review and prepare a response that was appropriate.

Justice Aluko ordered the defendant to remain imprisoned at the Ikoyi Correctional Center while the hearing and bail application were being heard.

The trial was also ordered to be heard more quickly than May 5th, according to the judge, who then adjourned the trial until May 5.
