Novak Djokovic claims Andy Murray will continue to coach him “indefinitely.”

At the Australian Open in January, Djokovic reached the semi-finals but was forced to retire due to a leg injury. Djokovic, a three-time major winner, started working with his long-time playing rival on a trial basis.

The 24-time Grand Slam champion said he and Murray would need to “cool off” before talking about the future after his exit from Melbourne.

Djokovic confirmed the pair would continue to work together when he announced his return to the Qatar Open.

“I expressed my desire to continue the collaboration with him so I am really glad he did accept”, Djokovic, 37, told the ATP Tour’s in-house media channel.

We agreed to work most likely in the United States and then some clay-court tournaments and see how it turns out after that, but it’s indefinite in terms of how long we’ll work together.

Murray, who retired in August last year, took a surprise coaching role with Djokovic’s team in late November.

“It was exciting for the entire tennis world and for us to play various roles together on the same side of the net,” Djokovic continued.

He has played all of the world’s top players in my opponents, and he has a unique perspective on my game.

Serbia’s Djokovic is aiming to win a 25th major, which would put him clear of Australia’s Margaret Court in terms of all-time victories.

The French Open, which will take place on May 25th, will be the next major event.
