World champion Kyren Wilson and Shaun Murphy both won the Masters final at Alexandra Palace in a 6-2 victory.

Murphy, who defeated Mark Allen in the semi-finals, set the tone with a 94-break break in the opening frame with a 147 maximum break.

Murphy, who has not won the tournament since 2015, took the second frame and then pinched the fourth with a clearance of 65 to lead 3-1 at the mid-session interval.

Wilson, who was defeated by Allen in the 2018 final, looked a shadow of the player that advanced past Judd Trump on Saturday.

He regrouped for the sixth frame before taking a half-century break to return to 4-2.

However, Murphy underlined his superiority with back-to-back century breaks to head into Sunday’s concluding session (19: 00 GMT) with a healthy advantage.
