In the second season of her critically acclaimed Prime Video program, Molly-Mae: Behind It All, Molly-Mae Hague discusses childcare.
Molly-Mae Hague has spoken for the first time about having a nanny – and explained why she kept it a secret from fans.
The influencer and former Love Island star has faced criticism from other parents for talking about the challenges she faces raising two-year-old Bambi on her own for most of the time as she no longer lives with on-off boyfriend Tommy. Last month there were claims she was getting childcare or a nanny when she was working on her business brand Maebe which led to claims she was being “inauthentic” and not telling the full story.
Speaking in-depth about it for the first time, she explains her reasoning to her dad Stephen in a scene from Season Two of Molly Mae: Behind It All. Talking with her dad about being away for a Maebe photoshoot, Molly-Mae says: “We’ve got Tommy when he can, and then obviously childcare at home on some of the days, I only kind of like doing two nights away maximum now. I think now she’s gotten older.”
Molly, 26, continues, “There’s always been some speculating about Bambi’s childcare and having a nanny, but I never really knew what it would turn out to be.” I suppose I just avoided it. I believe I was a little too afraid to discuss it in person.
“I just feel like I’ve caused this significant circumstance where people believe I’ve been truthful by not talking about it.” I do have assistance when I need it, and Tommy and I both work, but I regret not being open to it right away. I resisted speaking about it because I wanted to make any other mothers feel like they were invalid.
Her father tries to comfort her in response. Mum lives three hours away, Stephen says. I have full-time employment. You need support because you work but occasionally don’t live in the UK.
As you know, Molly says, “Obviously, as you know dad, it’s not round the clock care, like it’s just when we need it to work.” It has allowed me to continue working, grow my businesses, and also lead Bambi’s life while also being able to stay at home and be present with her while working, which is exactly what we both wanted to do.
“But I also understand that it isn’t typical.” I have a very, very special chance of having someone watch over me so that I can do these things and help grow my business.
The series’ launch of new clothing in the summer saw the majority of the Maebe products sell out on launch night because the Maebe brand is growing.
Molly-Mae and Bambi also have some heartwarming moments, such as when she serves her daughter as a waiter and another time when they feed ducks in a park together.
Elsewhere in the series, Molly says she hopes to move back in with boyfriend Tommy Fury by the end of the year but it does make her anxious to think about it.
She says, “I’m considering going there and putting all of my eggs in one basket again.” I can never predict what tomorrow will bring, so it’s obvious that it’s scary.
I just believe I have anxiety because I’m not sure if I’ll wake up and have a major problem to deal with. Because I’ve had a significant problem on my hands for a long time when I wake up.
Today (Saturday, October 18), Prime Video will exclusively stream episodes 1 through 3 of Series 2’s episodes of Molly-Mae: Behind It All. The last three episodes will be released in early 2026.
