Critics have condemned the Duchess of Sussex’s festive Netflix program, which it premiered just days after it was destroyed.
Just days after Meghan Markle’s festive Netflix programme aired, it has been savaged by critics who have branded it “pointless” and “unfathomable”. The Duchess of Sussex’s Christmas-themed episode premiered on the streaming giant yesterday, in which she was joined by a range of celebrity guests to indulge in festive-themed crafts and cooking.
Fans of the one-hour special shared their excitement for the episode on social media, and the episode received a variety of reviews. However, a number of media outlets responded quickly to the program’s harsh criticism, with one magazine calling it “quite mad and a little sad”;

Hilary Rose, a journalist for The Times, criticized the episode as “unfathomable: four pointless crafts, three random “friends,” two unidentified kids, one English prince and duchess in a pear tree, or at least making pear syrup.”
She continued, “We learn that red is a festive color and that cheese and pepper might not be as popular as a dish consisting of cheese and pepper, and that the part where she wears monogrammed red pyjamas and talks about quiche Lorraine was a fever dream.”
Anita Singh, the editor of The Telegraph’s Arts and Entertainment, commented, “Meghan, as always, tries way too hard. The program is somewhat depressing and mad.
The festive programme also got a one-star review by The Independent, as writer Hannah Ewens dubbed it a “predictably insipid festive special”, as she said: “It’s not a real special by any stretch, but some YouTube content or the radio that you might put on in the background as you do your tree or wrap your presents. White noise to dull the senses. It’s all a little Stepford Wives; not informative, fun, enjoyable or even aspirational. Because the people watching this, including me, will never have a Christmas like this.”
According to TV critic Lucy Mangan, The Guardian gave the episode a two-star rating, “I would advise any viewers who are British, not in the acting industry, and/or not married to the Duchess of Sussex to take as many anti-emetics as medically advisable, then assume the crash position.” I’m offended and hurt, but in the spirit of goodwill, I’ll give my rating a star to show gratitude for the fact that we’re at least safe now until the following year.
The Daily Mail called the conversation between Naomi Osaka and her “thoroughly awkward” and called it “sad, self-indulgent, cringey wash of beige.”
Meghan and Harry previously announced a new, less-funny streaming deal with the company, in contrast to their allegedly $100 million (£74 million) contract five years ago.
Less than four months after the second season of With Love, Meghan, which was also met with harsh reviews from industry insiders, the festive episode of the show made its debut.
Meghan’s holiday episode aired on the same day the King and Queen hosted the German state visit, and just hours after the Princess of Wales published a personal letter to guests attending her annual carol concert on Friday.
