Meghan Markle and Prince Harry break silence on LA wildfires as they face evacuation

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have spoken out as they prepare to leave the wildfires.

The Duke and Duchess remain at high risk due to living in Montecito, California, just 60 miles from the fires across Malibu. Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet, the Sussexes’ two children, are currently residing in the town. However, as the fires continue to spread throughout California, including Los Angeles and parts of the Hollywood Hills’ Runyon Canyon, they are getting worse.

In a statement, the couple said: “In the last few days, wildfires in Southern California have raged through neighborhoods and devastated families, homes, schools, medical care centers, and so much more – affecting tens of thousands from all walks of life. A state of emergency has been declared. Here are some resources and ideas if you feel compelled to help.

The couple continued: “If a friend, loved one, or pet has to evacuate and you are able to offer them a safe haven in your home, please do. Also, make sure to check in with any elderly or disabled neighbors to see if they need assistance evacuating. Some individuals and families have had nothing. Please consider donating clothing, children’s toys &amp, clothing, and other essentials. The American Red Cross is assisting those in need wherever they are.

Due to the ongoing fires, the Duke and Duchess are currently at risk of having their mansion stowed away. As thousands of people flee the areas in search of safety, firefighters are still tackling the blazes. The couple has lived in a “high fire risk” property in Montecito for the past two years, and electricity companies on Wednesday made the suggestion that power outages were possible. The Duke and Duchess of Sussex were faced with the prospect of moving to safety with their two young children as a result.

Due to a Red Flag Warning and a higher risk of wildfires, Southern California Edison (SCE), one of the major power providers in the area, issued a statement stating that the company was “considering a Public Safety Power Shutoff (PSPS) in some parts of Santa Barbara County.” He confirmed “affected customers” were being contacted in a number of communities, “including Montecito”.

According to experts, Santa Barbara’s PSPS could have an impact on around 4, 000 customers, and all residents and businesses have been informed. Meghan and Harry’s home is described as “This location is in a High Fire Risk Area,” according to an online property checker. To stop wildfires, power may be turned off during a PSPS.

To stop live electrical wires from raising the risk of fire, utility companies shut off power to more than 8, 000 homes. In 2017, one of California’s largest ever wildfires was reached Montecito, but it survived with only minor damage.

A strict fire control program is in place in the town of about 10,000 people, which includes everything from removing dried leaves to installing fire-proofing in every building.
