The Masked Singer UK’s much-loved host Davina McCall has opened up about her passion for ‘ self-help stuff’, much to her children’s dismay.
In a candid chat with the Guardian, the television favourite and mother of three confessed: “Lots of people get really annoyed with self-help stuff. I f***ing love it. I might discover something on Instagram that will alter my life forever. Makes my kids hate me, though, because I send them relentless amounts of self-help memes”.
She recalled one self-help meme in particular that made a significant impact on her: “A black and white image of a little girl, jumping in a puddle, in her pants, in the rain. She looks ecstatic. And it said, ‘ Remember her? She’s still in there somewhere. Why don’t you go get her”?
The presenter of Long Lost Family also shared some personal news about her health, aside from her fascination with motivational content. She revealed that she was diagnosed with a benign colloid cyst last November, and thankfully, post-surgery, she’s come out fighting fit.
Eager to keep her followers updated post-operation, the stalwart broadcaster reassured fans: “My short-term memory is a bit remiss but that’s something I can work on. According to Devon Live, “I’m recording everything I’m doing to make myself feel safe.”
Davina has come to be one of the most recognizable faces in British television after a highly successful career so far. Her first significant TV role came in 1996 when she was chosen to host the former ITV gameshow, God’s Gift.
After two seasons on the show, Davina accepted what is arguably her most notable role to date, hosting Big Brother in 2000.
Davina currently makes up the majority of the Masked Singer panel on the well-known ITV show, in addition to a number of other high-profile TV roles.
Tonight, Davina will join fellow panellists Mo Gilligan, Maya Jama, and Jonathan Ross to reveal a new celebrity.
The Masked Singer can be watched tonight (Saturday, February 1) on ITV at 7 pm.
