Margot Robbie, a survivor of teenage cancer who has raised more than £55,000 for charities, meets her hero and receives yet another big surprise.

Barbie’s adage, “You can be anything,” is shared by young Georgie Hyslop. Imagine the excitement of the adolescent fundraiser when she encountered Margot Robbie, the film’s hero and star.

The actress from Wolf of Wall Street told her, “I’ve heard all about the fundraising you’ve been doing, and everything you’ve been through, it has been incredibly inspiring for me.”

The Hollywood star met cancer survivor Georgie, who has raised more than £55,000 for others, to tell her she has been crowned the Good Morning Britain Young Fundraiser at the Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, with P&O Cruises. Overjoyed at meeting her idol, Georgie said: “I can’t even imagine that that’s happened to me.”

Georgie and her family were informed that they were participating in an extraordinary people documentary, and they were given a chance to spend an on-camera interview at a posh hotel in London.

Margot was patiently waiting outside the door as Georgie prepared to share her story. And she only managed to elude a brief “hi” before telling Margot, 35, that she felt “a little overwhelmed,” because she was so taken aback when the movie star arrived.

Margot laughed and said, “I can imagine, I kind of sprung this on you out of the blue.” Congratulations to you and I am so excited for you.

On hearing the incredible news, Georgie put her head in her hands, before turning to her equally surprised family and asking: “Did youse know?” At just 15 years old, Georgie, from Androssan, Scotland, was diagnosed with an extremely rare bone cancer called Ewing’s sarcoma, after experiencing unexplained leg pain.

The brave teen spent 190 days in the hospital after 14 rounds of chemotherapy and 33 rounds of radiotherapy. Georgie explained that she never had any doubts about her ability to recover despite Ewing’s sarcoma’s “single digits.” She continued, “My goal was to make everyone else as happy as possible while undergoing treatment.” I’d do anything to make someone smile.

During her time there, the selfless youngster had to spread joy throughout the Beatson West of Scotland Cancer Centre’s corridors. She would distribute “pocket hugs” of cards with encouraging and kind words to her patients. She even donned Spider-Man for a 4-year-old receiving raotherapy treatment to cheer her up.

Georgie soon realized she could assist others in fighting cancer by using the same positive approach. The first thing we did was shave our heads, according to her, which raised £5, 000 in 24 hours. “We decided to start raising money for cancer charities. Megan’s sister Megan said, “Georgie was like, “I want to do everything I can keep building this,” and she has never stopped.

Georgie threw a charity ball last year, raising an additional £3,000. She was given the all-clear and told that her cancer was in remission in July 2024, but scans earlier this year revealed devastating news. She recalled that when she learned that the cancer was back, she felt like bouncing my chair across the room.

She relapsed despite her relapse, but she still puts others first by putting forth her fundraising efforts, which have resulted in more than £55,000 raised through charity events, sponsored walks, ziplines, and other activities. She explained, “I want to make it as simple as possible for other people because it’s not an easy process.” Making people as happy as possible is what I’m trying to do right now. I’ll continue to raise money as long as I can.

Georgie will now be recognized for her accomplishments on the national stage. And she is still enjoying herself after meeting the real-life Barbie. Margot even personally invited Georgie and her family to watch her most recent film, A Big Bold Beautiful Journey, that evening.

And she told the actress that she wanted to work in film. I believe it’s really important to have goals and dreams, Georgie said. She gushed about the encounter and said, “I can’t believe I just met Margot Robbie!”

Georgie remarked on the red carpet at the premiere, “I would love to do all this and become an actor, this is just my dream.
