Man City Fined £1mn After Delayed Premier League Kick-Offs

The Premier League fined Manchester City more than £1 million last year for the club’s nine games’ delayed kick-offs.

Premier League officials revealed on Thursday that Pep Guardiola’s side had broken the kick-off and restart times between October and February.

Before the Manchester derby at Old Trafford resumed in December, the delay was two minutes and 24 seconds.

City accepted the breaches and offered an apology, according to the Premier League.

The fines total £1.08 million ($1.45 million).

In a Premier League statement, the organization of the competition is set at the highest possible professional standard and provides certainty to fans and participating clubs, according to rules relating to kick-offs and restarts.

Additionally, it guarantees that every Premier League game’s broadcast is scheduled.

City has previously faced penalties for their tardy kick-offs.

For 22 kick-off and restart violations, the club was fined more than £2 million last year.

As Guardiola’s four-year reign as champions came to an end, his side finished third in the Premier League last season.

City are currently participating in the Club World Cup in the United States, where they also suffered a shocking FA Cup final defeat against Crystal Palace.
