Man arrested over racist abuse sent to England’s Carter

Jess Carter, an England football player, was the subject of “disgusting and appalling” racist abuse that was “disgusting and appalling” on social media.

According to reports that the 27-year-old defender had been sent the messages during the UEFA Women’s Euros in July, police immediately began an investigation.

Lancashire Police earlier detained a 59-year-old man from Great Harwood on suspicion of making unauthorized communications, and he has since been freed under investigation.

After being subjected to online racism during the tournament, Carter, a Warwick native, announced that she was stepping down from social media.

She stepped up to this abuse and helped us with our investigation, Mr. Roberts said.

He said he anticipated the arrest to be “the first of many over the coming months” and that he is also the National Police Chief Council’s football policing lead.

We want to make it clear that this kind of racist abuse will not be tolerated, he added.

Everyone is held accountable for what they say and do, and we want to prevent offenders from posting hateful comments on social media.

Bodycam footage from the man’s arrest at his Great Harwood home has been shared by Lancashire Police.

The force’s PC Dan Fish stated, “Lancashire Police does not tolerate hate of any kind, whether it be online or in person.”
