After initially being cut out for personal reasons, Harry Maguire will join the Manchester United squad on Wednesday for their pre-season trip to the United States.
Maguire was a part of the goalless draw against Leeds over the weekend in Stockholm, Sweden, but manager Ruben Amorim did not make the 32-man squad for games against West Ham, Bournemouth, and Everton.
However, England defender Maguire confirmed that he would be included in the traveling squad in a later social media post on Tuesday.
“Everything is fine now,” the statement read. Tomorrow, I’ll be traveling to meet the squad. He thanked you for your concern.
Although club sources did not give an explanation for Maguire’s absence, they did claim they anticipated the 32-year-old to team up with his teammates before the trip’s conclusion on August 3.
Alejandro Garnacho, Antony, Jadon Sancho, and Tyrell Malacia were all omitted, and they will continue to train at Carrington as they search for new clubs.
Travel will be made by newest signings Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo. Cunha posted pictures of the birth of his second child while Mbeumo only completed his £65 million move from Brentford on Monday.
As they continue to recover from recent injuries, goalkeeper Andre Onana and defender Lisandro Martinez will be involved.
After undergoing significant knee surgery, United confirmed that Martinez is not yet physically fit enough to participate in group training sessions.
At the start of pre-season training, Onana injured his hamstring, and he is not expected to play in any of the three games.
Joshua Zirkzee, a Dutch international, is also included in the Leeds game.
Sekou Kone, Reece Munro, Bendito Mantato, Ethan Williams, Bendito Mantato, and Jack Fletcher, the son of former United midfielder and current Under-18s coach Darren, are all 17 years old when defender Godwill Kukonki drops out, which could provide insight into Amorim’s thinking before its first season without European football since 2014-15.
