Anthony Ramos, a member of Hamilton, claims Madonna spent her entire Broadway performance on her iPad and that she should “you don’t have to stay here.”
Anthony Ramos, the star of Twister, claims Madonna caused a lot of controversy when she attended a Broadway show at Hamilton. The 33-year-old actor, who played the original roles in John Laurens and Philip Hamilton, gave details about the incident while the pop star was present at a performance, along with his co-stars who also made similar assertions about the Queen of Pop.
On Thursday, Ramos made the comment on Bravo’s Watch What Happens Live program, saying, “Madonna had her iPad in her face. She was [in a light] the entire time. I thought, “Danger, shorty,” The door is there if you’re not having a good time there. You are not required to reside here. ‘”.
Lin-Manuel Miranda, the musical’s mastermind, also credited with creating Alexander Hamilton in a omitted tweet from April 2015 that made references to the episode in which The Material Girl was featured.
He had stated that tonight I had requested stage management NOT to allow a famous person (who was texting throughout Act 2) to go backstage. #noselfieforyou
However, Madonna’s representative refuted these claims, telling Us Weekly, “It’s not true. She received four different backstage invitations. She texted them after the show to ask them to fundraise. “Madonna already made a sizable donation,” Madonna said.
King George’s portrayal in the film was unrestrained, and Jonathan Groff, who played the character, unwaveringly asserted that “b**** was on her phone.
He noted at the time: “You couldn’t miss it from the stage. It was a black void of the audience in front of us and her face there perfectly lit by the light of her iPhone through three-quarters of the show.”
Madonna was claimed by Playbill that she had seen the performance at The Public Theatre in April 2015, but she had not been invited backstage afterward.
At the Tony Awards, Ramos and his Hamilton castmates, including Daveed Diggs, Renée Elise Goldsberry, Jonathan Groff, Christopher Jackson, Jasmine Cephas Jones, Leslie Odom, Jr., Okieriete Onaodowan, and Phillipa Soo, recently reunited.
The cast performed a medley of songs to celebrate the musical’s tenth anniversary, including Non-Stop, My Shot, History Has Its Eyes on You, and The Room Where It Happens.
At the 70th Tony Awards, Hamilton was nominated for 16 total and received 11 awards. Ramos reprised his role in Miranda’s 2021 musical, In The Heights, after starring in Hamilton.
He and Daisy Edgar Jones co-starred in the television series Twisters in 2024.
