A Love Island star has revealed that she is battling head and neck cancer. Lexy Thornberry appeared on Love Island Australian four years ago in 2021.
The 24-year-old took to her social media to announce the shock news to her followers along with pictures of her in hospital.
Lexy said that she would soon be starting chemotherapy and radiation treatment to treat the disease. She shared an emotional message alongside the post where she told her followers what the next few weeks looked like for her.

She wrote: “I am 24 years old and I have been diagnosed with cancer. No, sadly I’m not joking. They put me in a robe for my X–ray.
“I thought it was so dramatic. A couple days later I was diagnosed with head and neck cancer… I’m a Pilates instructor and I teach people how to live healthy lives.
“There’s nothing I did wrong, nothing that could have prevented it. It’s just the luck of the draw. But it is something I will FIGHT.”
Lexy then went on to ask those reading to not ask too many questions. “I am starting treatment and ask people to respect my privacy during this extremely difficult time,” she said.
She continued: “This is all I’m willing to share at the moment and ask everybody to keep their questions to themselves.”
Friends and fans of the star took to the comment section to share their sweet messages of support, one said: “You will beat this lovely Lexy!”
As a second wrote: “You’re so strong & brave, love you guys so much sending the biggest cuddles your way,” with a third adding: “Omg Lexi your are the strongest girl I have met with a beautiful soul I’ll be praying for you you got this girl and you’ll get through it lots of love.”
“Always have & always will be fighting in your corner! Go punch this C with all your might and know your surrounded with so much love & strength,” another said.
Another fan commented: “You have GOT this Lexy You’re going to kick it’s a**. Wishing you all of the strength in the world for this journey.”
The announcement comes after Lexy recently announced she had got engaged to professional boxer David Nyika. Back in May of this year, David popped the question while the pair were away on a romantic holiday in Mexico.
Lexy went into the Love Island villa on day three of the 2021 series. She then couple up with Ryan Reid but things weren’t meant to be between the couple.
Lexy left the show when she was left single following the final recoupling. Her partner at the time Ryan had his head turned by Casa Amor bombshell Tayla Mellington which meant Lexy’s TV journey came to an end.
