Bayern Munich’s formal request for forward Luis Diaz has been rejected by Liverpool.

Max Eberl, the Bundesliga’s director of sport, has been informed that the Premier League side won’t discuss selling Diaz and will not discuss options for the attacker.

Barcelona earlier this summer rebuffed Diaz, 28, in response to a similar approach, which the Premier League champions also rejected.

Given his significant contribution to the team since leaving Porto in 2022, Liverpool are adamant that Diaz is not for sale at any price this summer.

The Colombia international made 22 goals for the club and nation last season as a key member of Arne Slot’s title-winning side.

Diaz, who has two more years to go on his Anfield contract, attracted interest from Manchester City last summer and has acclaim in Saudi Arabia.

Diaz, who was on international duty earlier this summer, declared, “I’m very happy at Liverpool – I’ve always said that.

“We’re trying to arrange what works best for us,” he said as the transfer market opens. What will happen, I’m anticipating.
