Lindsay Lohan delighted fans with a surprise appearance at a screening of Freakier Friday at AMC Lincoln Square in New York City on Friday.

The 39-year-old actress, who recently reprised her role as Anna Coleman in the long-awaited sequel to Disney’s 2003 hit, looked stunning in a shimmery silver feather-embellished corset. She paired the glamorous top with white satin trousers and silver pointed heels.

The Mean Girls star seemed to be in high spirits as she greeted fans, posed for selfies, and shared a few laughs with the crowd.

In the original Freaky Friday flick Lohan starred opposite Jamie Lee Curtis, 66, telling the story of a mother and daughter who magically swap bodies, which forces them to navigate each other’s lives. Nearly two decades later, the duo have been reunited in the sequel, Freakier Friday, which continued the story.

Disney has been heavily promoting the film. Jamie Lee Curtis also got involved in keeping the buzz alive by posting a TikTok encouraging audiences to see the new movie.

Meanwhile, Lohan has gushed about the close bond she formed with her co-star Julia Butters, who plays Harper Coleman, while filming Freakier Friday.

The actress told The New York Times: “She’s my best friend in the entire world. We see each other every single day. That’s not even an exaggeration.”

She went on to reflect on her earlier experiences with other actresses on set, and admitted that filming Mean Girls in 2004 came with some challenges.

Lohan explained that she sometimes struggled to find her place on set due to the age gap between her and some of her co-stars while filming the famous noughties chick flick.

She shared: “It was hard because Rachel McAdams was so much older. I was in school. [And] Amanda and Lacey were all hanging out. It was hard for me to find where I fit in.”

At the time, McAdams, who famously played queen bee Regina George, was 25, while Lacey Chabert was 21. Amanda Seyfried was 17 like Lohan, but it seems Lindsey still felt there was a distance between them.

Mean Girls went on to become a defining moment in Lohan’s career, and certain lines from the romcom are still referenced in pop culture two decades later.

Even Freakier Friday included a clever nod to the iconic chick flick. Early in the film, viewers meet Anna’s new fiancé Eric, who is played by Manny Jacinto. Their whirlwind romance is shown in a montage which ends with with October 3 circled on the calendar as their wedding date. Mean Girls fans will instantly recognise the date from an iconic moment in the movie.

In Mean Girls, when Lohan’s character Cady Heron starts to have a crush on a boy in her class, she narrates their first interaction, saying, “On October 3rd, he asked me what day it was.” She then turns to him on screen and says, “It’s October 3rd.” The date is now celebrated annually by fans as ‘Mean Girls Day’.
