Following Liam Payne’s fatal balcony plunge in the Buenos Aires hotel, prosecutors in Argentina have confirmed they are considering appealing the decision to drop the manslaughter charges against three men.

In October, the One Direction star tragically passed away in the age of 31 leaving his devoted circle of fans heartbroken. Following Liam’s death, three people were charged in Argentina in November, but the charges were dropped last week.

However, in their first statement since it emerged last week that US businessman Mr. Nores, a close friend of Liam’s, and two hotel employees were in the clear, they are now “evaluating appeals.”

At the end of December, judges upheld a charge against the trio, but decided that two more men who had been accused of selling Liam cocaine before he allegedly fell from the CasaSur Palermo Hotel should continue to face charges.

Mr Nores (first left) said last week he was ‘ delighted ‘ to be cleared of any involvement in Liam’s death, but now prosecutors may appeal the decision

A spokesman for Argentinian public prosecutors said: “The Public Prosecutor’s Office and the plaintiffs will now evaluate the appeals that correspond to the part of the ruling that was not in accord with the corresponding charges. “The Public Prosecutor’s Office and the plaintiffs will now evaluate the appeals that corresponded the part of the ruling that was not in accord with the corresponding charges.

Mr Nores said last week he was “delighted” to be cleared of any involvement in Liam’s death. He subsequently confirmed he would travel to the UK to “say goodbye” to his friend.

Nores was found guilty of any criminal wrongdoing by the appeal court judges because he had not assumed “special obligations” that could have contributed to the star’s death, as the prosecution had confirmed.

Esteban Grassi, the hotel’s chief receptionist who called 911 moments before Liam’s passing, and Gilda Martin, its head of security, were the only two men who were given access to the open last Wednesday following the appeal hearing for the February 11 appeal.

In the most agonizing photo of the former One Direction singer, which shows him being led back to his room from his hotel lobby shortly before his balcony plunge, Grassi was one of the three men pictured alongside Martin.

They would have faced prison sentences of one to five years if they had been found guilty, but they had been informed that they could receive a suspended jail sentence. On conviction, the two men charged with drug trafficking have been warned that they could face prison sentences of up to 15 years.
