The Oasis Live 25 tour has been life changing and hugely memorable for millions of their fans – and the band’s frontman Liam Gallagher says it has saved his life too.

Liam, brother Noel Gallagher and the rest of the band have just completed the Australian leg of the world tour and are now off to South America.

Since the Summer, Liam has avoided cigarettes and alcohol as well as drugs, in order to protect his voice.

And asked by a fan if he missed it, Liam replied: “Oasis saved my life. It’s about time I sorted my nappa out. I know how much this means to people so stopping drinking and smoking and snorting Gary baldies are sacrifices that needed to be made.” He signed off the message: “Thems the rules MCFC,” in a nod to his football team, the treble-winning blues, Manchester City.

When another fan asked him if he misses the “occasional Guinness”, Liam replied: “Yeah I miss talking absolute b***ocks when I’m bladdered.”

Sources close to Liam told the Mirror in the Summer that he was on a health kick and had ditched booze and drugs. Even before the live shows had started he was not drinking much. On his Definitely Maybe solo tour last year he would have the occasional pint of Guinness or glass of wine with his partner Debbie, but in the main stayed away from alcohol then as well.

By contrast many of the fans have enjoy booze-filled reunions with friends as they watch them perform, with many saying the shows have been the best they have ever seen.

Liam was in talkative mood on X, formerly twitter, after Manchester City beat Liverpool 3-0 on Sunday. When an Arsenal fan suggested City would now win the title, normally confident Liam said: “It’s yours to lose and your f***ing good at that so congratulations MCFC.”

Oasis now travel to Argentina to play Buenos Aires before continuing to Santiago and Sao Paulo in Brazil.

In August Noel named the two nights at the Estadio Monumental in Buenos Aires, home of iconic Argentine club River Plate, as the ones he was really looking forward to. He told TalkSport: “The River Plate Stadium in Buenos Aires in November.

“It’s the second last show and we’ve played there a couple of times.

“The Argentinians are without doubt in the top five places for us to play in the world and it’s the furthest away from Ireland and Manchester.

“Everybody is looking forward to River Plate because it’s a special, special, special place for us.”
