Following her agonizing breakup with fiance Ryan Mahoney in November, Kelly Katona revealed in her weekly column for OK! that she intends to start dating once more. The former Atomic Kitten star admitted to trying to join the celebrity dating app Raya now that she’s embracing the single life and is also reporting that she is taking a mother-daughter vacation in sunny Thailand this week with her 17-year-old daughter Heidi.
“It’s Valentine’s day on Friday and i’m quite glad i’ll be away on holiday for it since it’s my first one single in a long time”, she revealed, adding, “It will be a bit strange without Ryan, but he was never great at Valentine’s gifts anyway. i’ve never been really into Valentine’s day so i’m feeling OK – i think it’s a bit gimmicky, although i did get married once on 14 February”!
She added: “i’ll get the kids a card and maybe one for myself because i need a bit of self-love. I’ve tried to sign up for the Raya app, but I’m not yet in. i don’t think i’d like to do the other apps again”.
Kerry had previously discussed the agonizing split from her six-year fiance and claimed that the 36-year-old, who she had once believed would tie the knot with Ryan in Las Vegas, was “like a dad” to her young children, which has made the breakup more difficult.
Speaking in her OK! column at the time, she said:” I never in a million years thought this would happen. There has been a breach of trust between us, without going into too much detail… We just need to see what happens, because I’ve experienced break-ups before and come out the other side.
Since becoming a member of the popular pop group Atomic Kitten, the former I’m A Celeb winner has had a turbulent love life. Her first marriage to Westlife star Brian McFadden, who famously cheated on her with a lap dancer on his stag do, lasted only four years. In a ceremony in Gretna Green in 2007, she wed Mark Croft, but rumors claimed that he had allegedly had sexual relations with a former flame the day after their engagement, and that marriage eventually ended.
Kerry and George Kay tied the knot in 2013, and the two eventually separated in 2013 after years of dating. George, father of Kerry’s youngest child Dylan George, 10, tragically died in July 2019 from a cocaine overdose.
