After a heartbreaking battle with a long Covid relationship, Good Morning Britain star Kate Garraway tragically lost her husband, Derek Draper, in January of last year.
Kate Garraway has opened up about her dating prospects following the tragic loss of her husband. Dad-of-two, Derek Draper, died last year, aged 56 after battling long Covid, leaving Kate and her children, Darcey, 19, and Billy, 16, heartbroken.
The Good Morning Britain star, 58, has spoken candidly about how much she misses Derek and has won awards for her documentaries detailing his devastating decline. However, Kate has now said that she is interested in dating again – when the time is right.
Speaking to Jamie Laing, 37, on his Great Company podcast, she told the reality star that she hopes to have romance in her life again as she teased him to be on the lookout for any single dads.

Kate opened up about her private life, saying, “I wouldn’t like to think that I’d never experienced romantic love again.” That would be a rather depressing way of life, in my opinion, wouldn’t it? No, I’m not yet there. I’m not sure if anyone wants to see Jamie again.
She then made a joke about finding out if any of their fathers are single, as she said, “Jamie, talk to your mates, find out.”
Kate responded to Jamie’s question, “No, of course not,” when she asked the Celebrity Traitors star if she’d ever used a dating app. Because everyone keeps asking me about dating, I don’t believe I’ve ever dated in the same way that you guys do.
“I don’t like it when you go to meet someone you’ve never met,” I think. I just end up doing an interview with them while struggling to find a word in their introductory sentences.
She said, “I’m of the old school where you lived your life, did things you loved, and then met people along the way.” But perhaps that won’t continue to happen.
In October, OK! reported that some of Kate’s friends were actively encouraging her to at least explore the possibility of dating someone new.
A source claimed there was “someone interested” in the Classic FM star, saying, “There is someone who’s interested and her friends are encouraging her to just explore that and see how it makes her feel. Kate isn’t really ready for anything more than friendship at this time, though. No one is trying to make things happen by force since it is still too soon.
“It would be lovely for her to take things slowly and even consider herself once more a single woman.” who excels in return and has a lot to offer. She’s said to be starting to have a few dinners and moving slowly.
