In the new film The Wizard of Kremlin, which just debuted at the Venice Film Festival, Jude Law appears completely unrecognizable as Vladimir Putin, the president of Russia.
The actor, 52, switched to Putin’s short blonde hair after putting on cropped brown hair. For the new film, he dressed as the Russian president’s serious persona and transformed into prosthetics. Jude isn’t the first actor to elude criticism for portraying real-life politicians.
Sebastian Stan’s portrayal of a young Donald Trump in The Apprentice won an Oscar nomination for Best Actor just last year. Adrien Brody was the star of The Brutalist, but he lost. Josh Brolin, who also stars in W.W. with Sebastian and is a member of Marvel, once transformed into George W. Bush.
Meryl Streep portrays Margaret Thatcher in the challenging roles of impressively mimicking politicians, Christian Bale portrays former US Vice President Dick Cheney, and Daniel Day Lewis portrays Abraham Lincoln.
