Heather Watson was one of four Britons who lost on Tuesday, but top seed Francesca Jones won her opening qualifier, making it the first step toward the US Open main draw.

Viktoria Hruncakova of Slovakia defeated by British number four Jones 6-3, 6-4. On Wednesday, she will face Georgian Ekaterina Gorgodze in the US Open main draw for the first time in her career.
