Woody Johnson, the owner of the New York Jets, has completed his purchase of John Textor’s 43% stake in the club, according to Crystal Palace.

In a deal believed to be worth close to £190 million, Johnson has purchased the majority stake in Textor’s multi-club company Eagle Football Holdings.

After joining chairman Steve Parish, Josh Harris, and David Blitzer as partners and directors of Crystal Palace, the 78-year-old American has signed the Premier League’s owners’ charter.

Johnson, according to Johnson, “It’s a privilege and honor for me to be joining Crystal Palace Football Club’s ownership group.”

I became enthralled while serving as US Ambassador to the United Kingdom because it has a proud history, tradition, and deep roots in South London’s football league.

“We are delighted to be welcoming Woody into the football club’s ownership,” Parish continued.

Working with him will help us build on our historic recent success and advance tremendously.

Johnson, who purchased the NFL’s Jets in 2000, is a former US ambassador to the United Kingdom.

He is one of the Johnson family’s heirs who founded Johnson &amp, a pharmaceutical company.

Textor sells following Palace’s Europa League suspension.

In an effort to overturn Uefa’s decision to demote them from the Europa League to the Conference League, American businessman Textor, who purchased a stake in the club in 2021, resigns from his position with Palace.

Because Textor owned a stake in the club and is the majority owner of Lyon, who also qualified for the Europa League, The Eagles were fined for breaking multi-club ownership laws.

The Court of Arbitration for Sport has heard an appeal against the decision of Uefa, as well as against Premier League rivals Nottingham Forest and French club Lyon.

Should the punishment be severed, Forest will take the place of FA Cup champions Palace in the Europa League. He finished seventh in the Premier League last season.

According to the governing principles of European football, clubs that are owned by the same person or entity must have a certain level of influence before participating in the same European competition.

Palace missed the deadline of 1 March 2025, according to Uefa’s rules.

They claimed Textor lacks any significant influence over the club, but Uefa rejected Textor’s claim.

Parish expressed his “very hopeful” that the decision would be overturned in a conversation with the Rest is Football podcast last week.

“We don’t believe that this is the wisest choice in any way,” the statement read. We are completely aware that John [Textor] did not have significant influence over the club, he asserted.
