Following his heartbreaking passing at the age of 79 after complications from Parkinson’s disease, broadcaster John Stapleton left behind a legacy in television.
John was most well-known for hosting programs like Good Morning Britain, GMTV, TV-AM, and BBC’s Watchdog. His almost 50-year career included reporting on the Kosovo war, covering four US elections, and Pope John Paul II’s Rome funeral.
John revealed to the general public that he had Parkinson’s disease last October, but vowed to be resilient and upbeat because he was “learning to live with it.”
John had Parkinson’s disease, which was complicated by pneumonia, according to a statement from his agent Jackie Gill. His son Nick and daughter-in-law Lisa have always supported him, and John passed away peacefully this morning in the hospital.
Nick, a documentary producer on television, is also a father to John. At the age of 72, Lynn Faulds Wood, the late presenter’s wife, sadly passed away five years earlier.
