Big Greg, Joey Essex’s uncle, passed away, according to the TOWIE star on Instagram as more and more fans showed their support for him and his family after their agonizing loss.
Following the passing of his uncle, Joey Essex made a heartbreaking statement on social media.
The Only Way Is Essex star, 35, paid tribute to his uncle “Big Greg”, describing him as “a family man that anyone would dream of.” In his post on Instagram today, Joey shared some photos and videos with his dad’s brother and said he will be missed.
He remarked, “Big Greg, you was special. The best brother and uncle to my dad. Anyone could dream of a family man. We will all be sorely missing you. I’ll be with you forever, mate.
The actor and porter uncle of the film Don Quixote (2000) and Seal and the City (2022) worked as a porter and actor in London’s Billingsgate Market. Along with celebrity chef Dez Harkness, he also co-owned the Billericay, Essex, restaurant Beluga Seafood and Grill.

The venue first opened in September 2014, but it abruptly ended in April 2015 as a result of a “leasing issue.” Following Big Greg’s passing, many people showed their support for Joey and condolence him. “Legend of a man, always had the most upbeat energy, always welcomed you, RIP Greg,” remarked James Bennewith.
Tom Pearce, a former TOWIE star, said: “Love big Greg, what a character and lovely man he was! Always a great uncle to you and a great laugh to be around. I’m in love with you, brother, and send love to Don and the entire family.
Pixie Lott once said, “Hope ur ok Joey sending lots of love.” Additionally, Joey’s Frankie Essex posted a carousel of photos of her and Greg’s family and friends over the years. She emailed her a single, white heart emoji, saying, “Forever our Big G. Greg, your love for family and friends was the strongest there ever was.”
It felt like someone had known you their entire life if they were fortunate enough to meet you. I’m so appreciative of the time we spent together, of the memories we shared, of the laughs we had, and of course, you.
The reality star added that Greg was “a true Bermondsey boy” as she wrote: “Millwall supporter through and through, a man who travelled the world and lived it fully. You had the best wife, daughter and granddaughter, your girls, and we promise they will always be looked after.
“We adore you, baby.” Big Greg Essex, you are truly unforgettable. Additionally, some people expressed their heartbreak over Frankie’s post, saying, “Send you all so much love.” Another song was titled “So sad. Thinking of you all.
Someone else responded, “Sorry for your loss,” adding that “He appears to be a fun character.” Another fan expressed, “Thinking of you all at this difficult time!” I want to sincerely love you and your family.
Joey and Frankie appeared on TOWIE from 2011 to 2013. Since then, Joey has appeared on other shows, including Celebs Go Dating, I’m A Celebrity and Dancing On Ice.
