Jo Whiley’s husband has been left devastated after accidentally killing their family cat. The 60-year-old radio presenter’s spouse, music executive Steve Morton, is heartbroken after “slowly” driving his car over their pet cat.
14-year-old Simba was on their driveway and Steve had not realised she had moved back near the vehicle after he had initially moved her to park the vehicle. Jo was emotional as she told her fellow Radio 2 host Zoe Ball.
She said on the Dig It podcast that she felt like she had to be “absolutely honest about what’s happening in my life.” Sorry, I should have done it, but I don’t believe I can.

She is grateful that Jo and Steve weren’t at home when the tragic incident occurred, having raised four children, India and Coco, and Jude and Cassius.
“Thank God for the incident,” the family said yesterday, “because none of the children were at home. She remarked that he had to deal with that with our wonderful friend, the veterinary surgeon, who intervened and helped her.
“The worst thing in the world is that we just had to wait and just tell the kids,” the children said.
