Following a string of thefts that have left him threatening to permanently close his new business, The Farmer’s Dog, Jeremy Clarkson has issued a warning to those drinking at his new eatery.
Since opening in August, the 64-year-old former Top Gear host turned farmer, who has enjoyed a hit on Prime Video with Clarkson’s Farm, has been inundated with custom but while numbers are good, costs have been sent spiralling after continual theft from the establishment.
Despite having no trouble drawing in punters, Jeremy has acknowledged that the issue has been a “total disaster” for the venture and that it has resulted in the gashead struggling to turn a profit.

In a letter to The Times, Jeremy revealed that some customers are attempting to steal the company’s pint glasses, which are expensive, making it difficult to make a profit.
Jeremy wrote: “The theft, for example, is extraordinary. People seem to think that if they order a pint, they are entitled to return home with the glass that was provided.
” Last Sunday 104 went missing. And that cost must be added to the £100 per day we spend on gas for the generator, the £400 per week we spend on heating the terrace, and the £27, 000 we must spend on parking and traffic marshals each month to protect us.
Jeremy has now taken direct action in that the pub now boasts beer mats with his face on alongside the words:” Jeremy is watching… don’t steal his pint glasses! The Grand Tour star wrote, “Please don’t steal our Hawkstone pint glasses, but feel free to take our new beer mats,” in the caption of the post! Happy New Year.. #backbritishfarmingdrinkhawkstone. “
In his column, Jeremy continued to criticize how unsettling the pub is for everyone involved. It’s galling to see how hard work goes into raising so little money on the farm, he wrote. It’s worse at the pub. The customers are coming. There’s no problem there. But turning their visits into a profit is nigh-on impossible. “
In addition to these issues, Jeremy’s Diddly Squat Farm Shop has recently experienced a significant closure. The Top Gear actor announced on the store’s website that the store would be closed for the entire month of January and February following its last day of operation on December 29. January and February are the last days of the Chadlington Farm Shop. The pop up farm shop at The Farmer’s Dog Pub is open Wednesday to Sundays, 10am – 4.30pm, “a banner on the home page reads.
The announcement continued:” We will be shut in January and February, reopening on 1st March. Despite taking a very long break, Jeremy hasn’t explained why he’s skipping business for so long.
