Jeff Bezos’ wife Lauren Sanchez set for space alongside Meghan Markle’s pal and huge popstar

According to the aerospace company, US pop sensation Katy Perry will be launched into space aboard Jeff Bezos’ Blue Origin. The upcoming New Shepard NS-31 mission, led by journalist Lauren Sanchez, who is married to billionaire Bezos, will feature an all-female team of six.
The crew includes Perry, rocket scientist Aisha Bowe, bio-astronautics researcher Amanda Nguyen, CBS Mornings co-host Gayle King, film producer Kerianne Flynn, and Sanchez herself. The New Shepard program, which offers paying customers a trip to the edge of space, has launched its 11th human flight this year.
On social media, CBS Morning teased that viewers could “watch Gayle take to the skies” in the spring. King, who is friends with Meghan Markle, got choked up during the announcement: “I’m so afraid, but I’m so excited. I just thought, What a unique opportunity”.

King explained that she agreed after she met her crewmates—and once she got the blessing of her friends and family, including best pal Oprah Winfrey, who told her, “If you don’t do it and see everyone come back so excited, you will be kicking yourself”.
In a video post, Sanchez, 55, expressed her hope that the mission would encourage people to “dream big”.
She said: “If someone would have told me that I would be able to go to space one day, I would have definitely, well, I don’t know, laughed” She added: “I can’t believe it’s happening. I used to hang around the hanger and used to dream that becoming a pilot was a big deal, and this is even bigger. My dad used to teach people how to fly.

She praised her fellow passengers, saying: “The incredible women that are going on this flight are extraordinary in all of their fields, but more importantly, they’re incredible storytellers.
What I’m hoping for is that this flight will transform both for them and the people who they tell their stories to.
“Hopefully it inspires that fervor to set out for the stars,” said the author.
Blue Origin has been sending visitors to space since 2021. Some lucky passengers have earned complimentary tickets, while others have spent a lot of money on the thrill of zero gravity.
Amazon founder Bezos, 61, was among the first to ride, joining his brother for the inaugural flight.
