After experiencing his baby kick for the first time, Jamie Laing describes the “chemical reaction” he experienced and says the only way to describe it is pure love.
Former Made in Chelsea star Jamie Laing revealed that he felt his baby kick for the first time and became emotional during his latest podcast episode. Opening up on the Nearly Parents podcast, Jamie described the moment as ‘pure love’ as he recalled the momentous occasion.
Jamie, 36, and Sophie, 31, tied the knot in April 2023 and in June 2025 announced that they were expecting their first baby together. Since announcing their sweet news, they have been keeping fans up to date with their pregnancy antics through their shared podcast.

We sensed the baby’s kick, Jamie said. It’s like a little foot, a little foot that suddenly popped into my stomach and I felt it there, guys.
Then Jamie said, “It’s insane, you can put your hands on the tummy and you can feel the baby kicking,” Sophie then described the sensation of a fish swimming through her stomach. What does it do, I can’t explain. There must be some kind of chemical reaction.
The only way to describe it is “pure love,” as my body reacts when I feel the kick, something hits me, some chemically nails my body, and it feels like it. I’ve never experienced real pure love like that.
Jamie’s best friend, Oliver Proudlock, who has two children of his own, commented on the clip shared to Instagram : “The PUREST”. Many fans also commented on the clip and described Jamie’s reaction and storytelling as ‘wholesome’ and ‘sweet’.
The reality series Made in Chelsea saw the parents-to-be begin their relationship and became a beacon for viewers. Jamie and Sophie shared their first ever date at the Rosewood London hotel in December 2021, when they engaged in a knee-length proposal at the end of their relationship.
One of the hotel’s prestigious suites was transformed by Jamie, who had tea lights dotted around and rose petals scattered across the floor. In a sweet gesture, a number of envelopes with handwritten notes had also been placed on the floor.
The TV duo wed in a ceremony in London in April 2023, attended by close friends and family, and celebrated in Marbella with 200 of their closest and dearest in May of that year.
The couple’s podcast, NearlyWeds, was released in March 2022 as a result of their wedding planning adventures. The podcast has had a huge response from the audience, and it was later changed to NewlyWeds after the couple wed.
After a brief break earlier this year, they resurrected and renamed the podcast NearlyParents to fit their new direction.
