Jake Paul-Gervonta Davis boxing fight on November 14 cancelled

Jake Paul lost to Gervonta “Tank” Davis in a showpiece boxing match on Monday, with Paul intending to fight a different opponent before the end of 2025.

Although Most Valuable Promotions (MVP), Paul’s promotional company, announced on Saturday that it was looking into the situation after a civil lawsuit against Davis was filed last week in Miami-Dade County, the highly anticipated fight was scheduled for November 14 in Miami, Florida.

Paul will headline another event being streamed on Netflix later this year, according to a statement from MVP’s CEO, Nakisa Bidarian, with details on an opponent, a date, and a location to be announced when it is finalized.

Despite the significant weight difference between the boxers, the fight was originally scheduled for Atlanta, but it was later moved to Florida, where it was sanctioned. Paul typically fights at cruiserweight, where Davis holds a title belt, about 50 pounds (23 kg) above the 135-pound (61 kg) limit.

Due to its novelty, the matchup had attracted a lot of attention worldwide. The much bigger Paul (12-1, 7 KOs), who was first renowned for his YouTube boxing exploits and later rose to fame after defeating Mike Tyson (28-1) in a fight against Davis (30-1, 28 KOs), a current WBA champion and one of the most well-known boxers in North America, was in the contest.

MVP stated that ticketholders who purchased the event through Ticketmaster will receive a refund.

Jake Paul, left, achieved acclaim when he defeated retired heavyweight champion Mike Tyson on November 15, 2024, in Arlington, Texas, United States.
