Our head of fashion claims that nobody’s child has the ideal pair of white linen pants that won’t crease or show through your underwear.

A pair of linen pants just makes dressing up in the spring and summer feel simple. Linen is the fabric you can always rely on when the weather can’t decide what to use—warm one minute, raining the next. Even when you’ve just rolled out of bed, it still manages to look put-together because it breathes and is light. Without giving it a second thought, a good pair of white linen pants can take you from a weekday coffee run to a weekend lunch.

With its White Linen-Blend Relaxed Trousers, Nobody’s Child has done it again. Given how frequently you’ll wear them, they seem a bit underpriced at £65. The drawstring waist and wide-legged design make them comfortable enough for long days but still formal enough to wear them out. The roomy pockets (yes, real ones) are a plus for practicality, and the high rise flatters without being constrained.

These trousers are made of a linen-viscose blend, giving you that classic linen look without the creases going completely wild by the middle of the day if your main gripe with linen is how it creases even after you iron it. The most crucial aspect of light-colored pants is that the white is crisp but not see-through. This is really important. Although you must still make the right underwear choice, a pair of white or nude underwear will do just fine with these.

I tried five pairs of linen pants, and a pair that had no show-through cost me £28.

Although the high street has plenty of linen pants for all tastes and budgets, it’s still worth paying a little more for these Nobody’s Child ones (more likely to cost you £10-£20 more), because many less expensive pairs will crease and appear see-through, which is only really appropriate for beach wear.

These trousers are also a great choice for almost anything. You can wear a knit jumper and some chunky jewelry, or you can simply chucked on a T-shirt and trainers. And linen never seems to try too hard because it always has a slightly relaxed vibe. It’s polished but still casual.

For $65, COS offers a fantastic alternative with a similar drawstring waist and slightly more tailored leg—they have that cool minimalist cut that COS always nails. Or, for a good price, M&amp’s Linen Blend Wide-Leg Trousers at £27.50 are a good option if you’re on a tight budget. The white pair stands out for a classic, easygoing look despite having a good drape and a lot of color choices.
