ITV Love Island viewers may notice star’s skin condition that ‘worsens in the sun’
This year, Lucas Bish and other contestants from previous years attempt to find love inside the Love Island villa. However, the former fishmonger may experience a recurring skin condition after escaping the icy UK.
The second All Stars series, hosted by Maya Jama, begins this Monday, January 13, on ITV2. Back in 2023, Bish shared an Instagram post that he captioned “102 Dalmatians”. He lay topless in a garden, his tan contrasting with his topless skin, which appeared in small spots.
Known as pityriasis versicolor, which can also be called tinea versicolor, it’s actually a fairly common ‘ fungal skin infection’. It can be worsened by heat, humidity and sun exposure.
The Brighton-born star’s mum shared that the problem isn’t a permanent issue. A concerned commenter, who also had similar spots on their own skin, asked her for a response.
After naming the condition, she said: “It’s treatable with certain anti-dandruff shampoos depending on the severity. Sometimes, a course tablet is needed, which is prescribed by your GP.
” Luca has been prone to it since a child, a tan makes it more prominent. What is required will be prescribed by your doctor. It’s not serious and quite common.
“Luca is receiving treatment for it,” he said. It can take a few weeks/months to clear. He had a lot of knowledge of it in the past. I’m glad he posted a photo of himself because there is no shame in doing so.
On white skin, the patches are typically pink, red, or pale brown, according to the NHS. The health body also confirmed: “You may notice the patches do not tan in the sun”.
The patches usually appear on the chest, upper back, upper arms, neck or stomach. Flat, round, and able to join together to form large areas, making them. They may appear scaly and occasionally itchy.
A skin-living fungus called Pityriasis versicolor is the result of this fungus. The majority of people don’t experience any issues because of this fungus on their skin. But sometimes it can grow and spread more than usual, causing pityriasis versicolor. It’s not always clear why this happens.
Viligo and other conditions can present symptoms that are similar to vitiligo and pityriasis versicolor. Consult a GP if you have questions about any unrelated body changes.
The 25-year-old first appeared on Love Island in 2022 when he and Gemma Owen, the former football player’s daughter, teamed up. After a brief break from dating outside the villa, they broke up in November 2022.
