Israel’s Netanyahu ‘backed down on signed agreement’, Hamas official says

A Hamas official said that Israel must be subject to pressure to adhere to the Gaza ceasefire agreement, saying that a new agreement is not necessary.

On Tuesday, Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu claimed he was the one who launched attacks against Hamas after it rejected demands for a ceasefire extension in Gaza. Hunderte of people were killed and two months of relative calm were destroyed by the wave of attacks across the besieged territory.

When international parties acting as guarantors have a signed agreement, why do we need to present proposals? According to Taher al-Nono, the head of the Hamas political bureau’s media adviser, Al Jazeera.

A resolution of the Security Council is also present. All the efforts made toward us have had a positive impact. Netanyahu has resisted the agreement because of it. Netanyahu was the one to ignore it. Therefore, Netanyahu should be subject to pressure, not Hamas or the opposition.

Al-Nono added that Hamas is negotiating with international organizations to put an end to Israeli aggression in Gaza.

Palestinians who had returned to their ruined and damaged homes after the ceasefire&nbsp was implemented were also targeted by Israel’s relentless bombing, causing entire families to vanish in seconds.

Hamas claims that the ceasefire agreement has been unilaterally canceled by Israel’s most recent attacks.

In a statement released on Tuesday, Hamas said that Netanyahu and his extremist government are making the decision to overturn the ceasefire. This leaves Gazan prisoners vulnerable to unknown fate.
