Israel inaugurates new army chief after Oct 7 failures

Lieutenant General Herzi Halevi resigned in January over the military’s security and intelligence shortcomings during Hamas’s attack on October 7, 2023, and Israel has appointed retired Major-General Eyal Zamir as its new army chief. Zamir pledged to work toward a “victory” in Gaza.
