Iran Hangs Man Convicted Of Spying For Israel

As fighting between the two nations began its eleventh day, Iran’s judiciary announced on Monday that it had executed a man who had been found guilty of spying for Israel.

The judiciary cited Iran’s use of the term “Israel” as evidence that “Mohammad-Amin Mahdavi Shayesteh was hanged this morning for intelligence cooperation with the Zionist regime.”

According to the allegations, Shayesteh worked for Mossad, Israel’s foreign intelligence agency.

Additionally, he was found guilty of working with Iran International, a London-based Persian-language TV station, to make up his views on the Iranian government.

The broadcaster is viewed as having ties to Israel by Iran.

The Iranian government referred to the channel as a “terrorist organization” during the nationwide protests in 2022 that were sparked by Mahsa Amini’s death in custody.

Amini, a young Iranian Kurdish woman, had been detained for allegedly breaking the Islamic Republic’s strict dress code.

Iran frequently makes announcements about the arrest or execution of individuals it claims to work with Israeli intelligence agencies, particularly its arch-foe Israel.

Authorities pledged to resolve these issues more quickly on Sunday. Majid Mosayebi, who had also been found guilty of being a Mossad agent, was executed the same day.

Justice Minister Gholamhossein Mohseni Ejei stated on state television that “security-related cases, especially those involving support for the usurping regime (Israel) and acting as a fifth column of the enemy, will be handled more quickly.

According to human rights organizations like Amnesty International, Iran is the second-highest-professing country in the world after China.
