Ben Hillman, the host of A Place in the Sun, has a friendly face on our television screens for many years.
The property expert continues to provide some much-needed sunshine and escapism to our screens as his Channel 4 co-stars, including Jasmine Harman, Laura Hamilton, and Sara Damergi, all while living the dream and moving abroad.
Ben Hillman, who has built and renovated his own home in the UK since 2016, joined the show.
In his spare time, he frequently works on new designs or gets sucked into carpentry, landscaping, and gardening. He appeared in programs like The Renovation Game, 60 Minute Makeover, and This Morning in his early TV days.
But what else do we know about his private life, including that he grew up in a cozy house, and isn’t watching TV anymore?
Early life and career of Ben Hillman
Hillman attended Ravensbourne College in London to study product and furniture design. He was born and raised in Brighton.
After graduating, Ben underwent an internship with michaelsodeau.com before becoming a special projects manager and assistant interiors editor for Wallpaper Magazine.
He then began his career at The White Company, where he coordinated photo shoots and assisted with the design of both their website and brochure photography.
Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen and Michelle Ogundehin were the only people who narrowly missed out on the 2010 competition for The Next Big Thing in interior design. He soon followed with a line of colorful ambient greetings cards, he set the bar for laser-cut stationery, and received high praise for his gift of the year 2006.
Ben Hillman, a homeowner, joins A Place In The Sun in 2016 to offer his expertise to help homeowners create their ideal home.
The interior designer-turned-TV-presenter has been winning audiences over with his energy and charm since then. He has a successful career in interior design, including creative home decor creations and self-build projects.
He’s also appeared on shows including The Renovation Game, You Deserve This House, Auction Party and 60 Minute Makeover.
Ben recently completed his own self-build project in the heart of Brighton, which transformed a 1970s purpose-built block of apartments. He now runs an interior design business there.
Ben Hillman’s spouse is who?

After getting married in 2011, Ben and Gaby, an NHS worker, are currently married.
Soon after getting married, the pair welcomed their first child, Hope Blossom before having a second daughter, Honour Willow.
He previously opened up to Express. co. uk about how his wife has been his rock, especially during the coronavirus pandemic.
He said, “I would literally feel down, but Gaby would say, “You need to find a way to pass the time.”
And then, as soon as I moved on, it became extremely important to me, in my opinion, because it was just the distraction that kept me going.
Inside Ben Hillman’s home renovation project

Back in 2016, Ben and Gaby bought their 1934 four-bedder in Shoreham-By-Sea, West Sussex, and transformed it into their dream home.
With Ben’s design knowledge, the house was complete with a wraparound extension and a new kitchen. Ben and Gaby were able to make frugal swaps when it came to decorating, saving them thousands.
He added:” I’m a real home bod, I love being around my family and being around my kids, they’re the number one thing in my life. “
Sharing his cost-cutting secrets with the Metro, Ben said:” I had spent so much money on the house]in the past] but lockdown made me reassess what money I’m chucking at it.
“We went from spending £15, 000 on a bathroom to £500. But even though it’s super-budget, it’s great and just as pleasing. Lockdown has taught me to be more inventive”.
He claimed that his daughters are interested in DIYing themselves and have benefited from his guidance.
