After spending 13 years at Leicester City, where he won the Premier League and the FA Cup, Jamie Vardy signed a deal with Cremonese, a Serie A side in Italy.
WAG Rebekah Vardy sees her family’s new adventure – in a cultural Italian city – as an opportunity to “slide into a new social circle,” sources claim.
The media personality has moved with her family to the nation for a “fresh start” after Jamie, 38, penned a deal with Serie A side Cremonese. The striker’s big-money contract at Leicester City expired, marking an end to a 13-year stint with the Foxes, during which he won the Premier League and FA Cup.
Rebekah, 43, is alleged to have wished for more glitz with a recent appearance at another “really glitzy club.” However, the Cremonese are a little-known team that recently received a promotion to the top flight of Italy, and they are reported to have significantly less money than Leicester City’s recent wealth.
One source close to Rebekah said: “Becky desperately wanted a glamorous big move to a really glitzy club. She had dreamed of Inter Miami, hanging out with Victoria Beckham would be like a dream for her… The Miami lifestyle – nightclubs, celebrities, parties – is way more her. Cremona, though, is all crumbling old buildings and culture.”

Interest in Jamie was high, though, with star-studded Championship club Wrexham pursuing the attacker. This move would have offered Rebekah the opportunity to buddy up with actress Blake Lively as her husband Ryan Reynolds is the co-owner of Wrexham. Birmingham City, owned by US superstar and former American footballer Tom Brady, were also reportedly interesting in signing Jamie.
The veteran forward signed a deal with Cremona, which is known for its musical traditions and is the birthplace of Antonio Stradivari, a legendary Italian violin maker. For instance, it is certainly a striking contrast to the hustle and bustle of Miami, but Inter Miami never really made a move.
The insider continued: “Becky is used to the limelight, but nobody in Cremona will have the first idea who she is.” They spoke to the Daily Mail, which also reports both Rebekah and Jamie were desperately keen on “fresh starts” despite his success with Leicester City.
And Cremonese supporters have already dubbed their new signing “the king” as a result of this and his three-year spell with England. Jamie will be crucial in Cremonese’s desperate effort to avoid being dropped this season, according to local media.
