Netflix’s newest Western The Abandons is Lena Headey, a Game of Thrones actress.
The Abandons has just landed on Netflix and the sweeping Western drama features a stellar cast, including Game of Thrones icon Lena Headey as Fiona Nolan.
In the series, the Irish force battles relentlessly to safeguard her territory and her adoptive offspring from European nobility, and it has already garnered glowing praise.
Lena Headey is a 52 year old British actress who achieved global fame portraying Cersei Lannister in Game of Thrones. She was born in Bermuda, where her father, a Yorkshire police officer, was serving with the Bermuda Police Service in Hamilton.
She and her family moved to England and settled in Somerset at the age of five, and she has a younger sibling named Tim. At the age of 17, she was first spotted acting in a Royal National Theatre performance.
She became the subject of the 1992 film Waterland after this discovery, launching a career that would continue to flourish.
The actress, who married first wedding musician Peter Loughran in May 2007, has been open about her romantic relationships and private affairs.
Wylie, the couple’s son, was born in 2010, and she has openly discussed postpartum depression.
She revealed to The Edit that she felt “really horrendous” while filming some of the distressing sequences while filming Game of Thrones’ first season. She admitted that she didn’t realize she was postpartum depressed. I went to the doctor to get checked, and I just cried.
“She said I was postnatally depressed and I went, ‘Am I? Why is that?’ I saw a great guy and he sorted me out, but I did the first year [on GoT] in that space, figuring out motherhood and going through a weird time personally. It was tricky.”
She filed for divorce in 2012, and by 2015, she had a daughter named Teddy, who had a close relationship with the filmmaker Dan Cadan, who had previously collaborated on the short film The Devil’s Wedding.
She told the New York Times, “Don’t ever ask me to marry you; it’s a disaster,” but it actually feels really wonderful.
However, they had already parted ways by June 2019, and Headey and Marc Menchaca, an American actor, had already been dating since 2020, tied the knot.
Menchaca, 50, is renowned for playing a key role in Reparation and has appeared in Ozark, The Sinner, Manifest, and The Outsider.
The couple exchanged vows in a private ceremony in Italy, attended by several of her Game of Thrones co-stars, including Sophie Turner and Peter Dinklage.
