Fans may recognize a familiar face in the star-studded cast of A24’s erotic thriller Babygirl once more in theaters.

The eagerly awaited movie, which was released on January 10, follows a powerful CEO (played by Nicole Kidman) and her much younger intern (portrayed by Harris Dickinson).

Although the leading duo dominates the screenplay, Sophie Wilde and Antonio Banderas, their co-stars, have plenty of screen time to shine.

Wilde takes on a completely different role in this film than the critically acclaimed horror film Talk To Me, which he previously co-starred with A24. The Australian-Ivorian actress plays Romy’s (Kidman) sharp-eyed assistant, Esme, who boldly confronts her boss about the inappropriate relationship.

As moviegoers get a sneak peek at Sophie Wilde’s life, including her rise to fame and her popular Netflix series that was abruptly canceled, we take a quick look at her life.

Early life

Born February 22, 1998 in Sydney, Sophie knew she wanted to be an actress from as young as five years old.

Now 26, the movie star recalls watching Audrey Hepburn’s 1953 romantic comedy, Roman Holiday, on her parents ‘ VHS and deciding she wanted to pursue performing.

“I watched Roman Holiday and said, ‘ That’s what I want to do, ‘” she told AnOther Magazine in 2024.

The actress credits her mother, an Ivorian grief counselor, and her father, an Australian visual artist, with helping her realize her goals, calling them her main supporters.

Sophie graduated in 2019 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Acting from The National Institute of Dramatic Art in Sydney.

Just 17 at the time, Sophie’s family had not heard from the pair for over a week. However, the duo eventually contacted their family to reveal they were safe, with Patrick, Sophie’s grandfather telling the ABC in October 2014: “]Simon] and Sophie are both OK and they’ll be back in Kathmandu and flying home to Australia on Saturday”.
