Japanese world champion Naoya Inoue will defend his undisputed super-bantamweight title against Ramon Cardenas on 4 May at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
Inoue is a four-weight world champion and is yet to lose in 29 professional fights.
The 31-year-old, regarded as one of the best pound-for-pound fighters in the world, has not competed in America since 2021.
American Cardenas has recorded 26 wins in 27 fights and makes his first challenge for a world title.
“I am thankful to the fans in America who have followed my career. Fighting at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas is another career highlight”, Inoue said.
“Cardenas is a tough opponent who I respect for accepting the fight without hesitation”.
Inoue claimed a fourth-round stoppage victory against Ye Joon Kim in his last bout in January, after the South Korean stepped in on 11 days ‘ notice following the withdrawal of Sam Goodman.
He has only gone the distance on three occasions, with each of Inoue’s past 10 victories coming via stoppage.
